本作は、ストーンズが自ら設立した「Rolling Stones Records」の第一弾となる1971年発表作。ブライアンジョーンズに代わり加入したギタリスト、ミックテイラーが全編に参加した初のスタジオ・アルバムでもある。アンディーウォーホールがデザインしたジッパー付きジャケットはあまりにも有名。彼らの代表的な名曲「Brown Sugar」「Wild Horses」等収録。プロデューサーはジミーミラー。
