1927年ベルギー生まれ、ヨーロッパ最高のジャズギタリスト、ルネトーマ。本作は、その彼の貴重な未発表音源集1991年「Guitar Genius Vol.1(通称:青盤)」と1992年「Guitar Genius Vol.2(通称:赤盤)」の2枚セット。ルネトーマの娘にあたるFlorence Thomasの希望で実現した正規に発表された遺作集。カバー写真もFlorence嬢が撮影した写真を使用している。ルネトーマのファンが血眼で探している知る人ぞ知る入手困難の激レア盤2枚である。
収録内容は、Vol.1青盤の1,2,7が1972年オランダUtrechtでのライブ音源、3が1964年ベルギーComblain、4,6が1968年Liege、5が1974年Wilhelmslavenからの収録。そして、Vol.2赤盤は、1,6,7,8が1960年カナダMontreal、2が1965年ベルギーLiege、3が1970年フランス、4が1964年Comblain、5が場所日にちともに不明。何れも貴重な未発表ライブ音源で、おそらく本盤でしか聴けない音源と思われる。
